Since 1982, Crime Stoppers of Lufkin has served Angelina County but law enforcement agencies throughout the area need our help so we’ve launched a Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers (DETCS) website for solving crimes throughout the Deep East Texas region.
At www.DETCS.tips, you’ll find information on unsolved crimes and wanted persons from Angelina and surrounding counties. The Crime Stoppers programs and law enforcement agencies of Angelina, Houston, and Trinity counties are the initial partners in this but the website and tip-taking resources will be offered to the programs and agencies of counties contiguous to Angelina County.
Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers offers two secure and anonymous options for submitting a tip:Tips
are accepted regarding any crime or wanted person, whether publicized
by Crime Stoppers or not. In-progress crimes and emergencies should be
reported to law enforcement (dial 9-1-1 for emergencies).
Calls and tips are anonymous and Crime Stoppers may pay a reward if the information provided leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.
Crime Stoppers programs are private, non-profit organizations that assist law enforcement but are not part of law enforcement. As long as the tipster uses the published Crime Stoppers tipline telephone number or website address instructions, neither Crime Stoppers nor any law enforcement officer/investigator will know the tipster’s identity. Anonymity is not Crime Stoppers’ promise -- it is the law. In Texas, a person, including a law enforcement officer, may commit a crime if they intentionally or knowingly divulge the identity of a Crime Stoppers Tipster. To further ensure a tipster’s identity is never known, Crime Stoppers pays rewards only for anonymous tips; tipsters who identify themselves are not eligible for payment.
Crime Stoppers of Lufkin is an independent program dedicated to serving the citizens and law enforcement agencies of Angelina County, and offers the DETCS website and tip-taking resources as crime-solving and crime-prevention tools for the Deep East Texas region because crimes cross county lines.
